James Worthy Says Giannis Is No LeBron James, Explains Why LeBron Is The MVP

Now several weeks into the bubble, the NBA has finally announced the winner of the prestigious ‘Most Valuable Player of the Year’ award, and the winner was none other than Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Antetokounmpo outlasted LeBron James, who only got 16 out of 101 first-place votes.

While it was a landslide victory for the Greek Freak, countless of basketball viewers including NBA analysts, former and current players weighed in on the conversation, sharing their opinions that seem to favor the Los Angeles Lakers superstar instead.

One of which was former Lakers player and Hall of Famer, James Worthy. In a discussion with ‘Access SportsNet: Lakers’ panel, Worthy explained why the four-time MVP winner is his MVP of the season.

“The way you play the game is important. Giannis is obviously a young, bright player in the future. But he’s no LeBron James. He doesn’t have enough experience yet to know how to lead,” Worthy said on Access SportsNet: Lakers.

“That’s why I think they shouldn’t look at stats and blocked shots and all that. That is the character. LeBron James came in here, led the league in assists. He knows what the teams need. He doesn’t come in and just display all his talent. I mean he does, he could score 40 points every night if he wanted to. But that’s not what the MVP’s do. They monitor. They have the pulse of the team. It’s show in how they play.

“Look at what they’ve been able to do. Their defense has picked up. He brought in AD. He’s encouraged AD to get better and be the elite player under the microscope in Los Angeles. To me LeBron James is hands down MVP. If you ask guys who have been there and know what it takes, they would agree.”
