Erik Spoelstra Shuts Down ‘LeBron James Question’ After Heat’s Game 6 Victory
A Los Angeles Lakers-Miami Heat Finals series means LeBron James will have to face what used to be the team he won championships with, and it also means that the former Heat superstar is set for a different kind of reunion with Udonis Haslem and coach Erik Spoelstra.
While that seems to be an interesting storyline, coach Spoelstra doesn’t feel like entertaining any questions about LeBron James after his team captured their first conference finals victory since 2014.
When Rachel Nichols of ESPN asked Spoelstra about facing his former player in the finals, Spoelstra adamantly refused to answer the question, saying he just wanted to enjoy the night along with his players.
Nichols: This is the organization’s first trip to the finals since 2014 you had a player then by the name of LeBron James, You Will now be facing him in the NBA finals what is that going to be like.
Spoelstra That’s a great storyline right? Can you let us enjoy this for a little bit right now. This is hard to do. It’s hard to get to this point and I want our guys to recognize that and acknowledge it for at least tonight and then we’ll get on to that tomorrow.
