Anthony Davis Reveals That Having Family In The Bubble Is A Tremendous Help In Overcoming Off-Games
Most people, myself included, consider the NBA Bubble to be a huge success. But the Bubble life could be considered as one of the largest science and psychological experiments of all-time.
Being isolated from the rest of the world, and more importantly from your family and friends is a burden NBA players were willing to take in order to finish the season in a safe way. But this obviously is also taking a heavy toll on most of the players.
Paul George, for example, came out to reporters and revealed that he was in a ‘dark place’, dealing with anxiety and depression which affected his performance in the earlier games of the playoffs, and LeBron James revealed that he has thought about leaving the NBA Bubble numerous nights and days.
Ever since the second round of the playoffs started, NBA players are allowed to have Bubble guests to stay with them, and it has helped players a lot – especially after bad performances.
Anthony Davis for example had an off night in Game 3 against the Miami Heat, and when he was asked if having family in the bubble changes the way he is overcoming a game like that, the All-Star explained that having his family around helps him tremendously:
“For sure. Like you said, when you go back home, if this was a regular scenario, you would go back home and see your family, things like that. So, you kind of just take your mind away from the game. And having my family here, it definitely helps. But it’s still hard to sleep. It’s still hard not to think about. Even though it takes the edge off a little bit, you’re super eager to just get back on the floor and get ready for the next game.
But I think my family being here definitely helps me tremendously.”
