Bulls Fans With New Hope After Anthony Davis Revealed He Isn’t Sure What He’ll Do This Offseason

When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Anthony Davis in last year’s offseason, they were aware of the risk of Davis possibly leaving again in free agency after only one season.

Shortly after Davis’ trade to Los Angeles, he minced no words when letting the world know how he feels about his hometown of Chicago:

“In Chicago, it means a lot more to us because we are a basketball city and we are the Mecca of Basketball and you can quote me on that.”

Davis later caused some more controversy when as asked about the possibility of coming to the Bulls in the future, at an event in Chicago this past November. The Lakers big man didn’t say much, but what he said surely raised the hopes of the Windy City faithfuls:

“I mean, I am a free agent next year … but we will see.”

After the Lakers won the Championship this past Sunday, the All-Star big man was asked about his future and likely free agency, and revealed that he isn’t sure what he’ll do this offseason.

Per ESPN:

“I have no idea. I don’t know. … I had a great time in L.A. this first year.

This has been nothing but joy, nothing but amazement. Over the next couple of months, we’ll figure it out. I mean, I’m not 100 percent sure, but that’s why my agent (Rich Paul) is who he is, and we’ll discuss it and figure it out.”

This does not necessarily sound like goodbye, but it leaves enough hope for Chicago fans praying for the city’s best playing son to come back home.

With the Bulls finally opting for a fresh start, relieving general manager Gar Forman of his duties, demoting former executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson to senior advisor of basketball operations, and replacing head coach Jim Boylen with Billy Donovan, Davis would be the perfect cornerstone for a re-start.

But all things considered, it’s hard to imagine Davis not returning to defend the Lakers’ title alongside LeBron James.
