Mavericks Will Be ‘At Head Of Line’ Pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo In 2021
After the Bucks-Heat series, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the team became questionable to a lot of fans and basketball pundits in general. However, Antetokounmpo was quick to clarify his intentions and has already stated that he desires to stay with the Bucks next season.
As for the 2021-22 NBA season, things might not be as certain. The Greek Freak will be a free agent and is expected to test the market, even more so if the Bucks won’t be able to win a championship next season.
In come the Dallas Mavericks, who are expected to preserve their cap space for the 2021 offseason to make a run for the reigning MVP, and pair him with their other two young stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.
That’s what Brian Windhorst revealed on a recent episode of ESPN’s ‘The Jump’:
“The Dallas Mavericks are gonna be at the head of the line in pursuing Giannis. They want to have a 3rd star. They want to keep their books clear for 2021. I wouldn’t expect them to add any major free agents this year. They’re going to wait.”
