Carmelo Anthony Rumored To Return To New York If Knicks Trade For Chris Paul
Carmelo Anthony had sort of a redemption season after joining the Portland Trailblazers, averaging 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in the regular season and 15.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in the playoffs as a third scoring option.
Anthony signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Blazers last November, which ended up being a win-win for both sides. Following his successful comeback, Anthony has expressed that he would like to stay with the Blazers next year and is even hoping to end his career in Rip City.
However, rumors are swirling that Anthony is open to have a reunion with his former team, the New York Knicks, if their front office could somehow push a trade to acquire veteran point guard Chris Paul who’s a known long-time friend of Carmelo.
Per the New York Post:
If point guard Chris Paul makes his way to the Knicks via a trade, sources have said Anthony is likely to want to follow. Anthony and Paul are close friends and have dreamed of playing together on an NBA team. Both players were represented by Knicks president Leon Rose when he was basketball chief of Creative Artists Agency. A source said Rose is amenable to an Anthony return even without Paul.
