Fans Absolutely Destroyed The Warriors Over Ill-Timed ‘Oakland Forever’ City Edition Jerseys
Last year, the Golden State Warriors said goodbye to Oakland and Oracle Arena and started a new chapter in franchise history with their move to San Francisco’s Chase Center.
Oakland’s Colliseum Area previously hosted the Athletics, the Warriors and the Raiders, but after the Warriors left for San Francisco and the Raiders relocated to Las Vegas, the Athletics were left as the only remaining big league team in Oakland.
But yesterday, the Warriors released their new City Edition jerseys, themed “Oakland Forever”. While the jerseys with the old color scheme from the “We Believe” Warriors look amazing, the release came more than ill-timed, and just one day after reports that the Warriors were taking the $40 million dispute with the city of Oakland over owed renovation money to the California Supreme Court.
Oakland is and will always be a part of our team’s identity.
“Oakland Forever," presented by @Rakuten, is a nod to the We Believe era and its turning point in Oakland’s basketball history.

This and the fact that they left Oakland for good last year, had NBA fans rip the Warriors for these new jerseys.
Imagine releasing "Oakland Forever" jerseys while suing that same city over $40 million you owe in renovation debt.

So let me get this straight, you guys wait until you move out of Oakland to drop these? https://t.co/w1L13qOXFq

Cmon now. Oakland asked for these about 20 years ago. Too little too late. U wanna claim Oakland on your jersey as you currently take the city to court for unpaid debts for oracle arena? Interesting

Then why does the team keep disputing what it owes? Is this also your way of honoring The Town? https://t.co/8VrQA0OF7Q
