John Wall Says NBA Players Today Are Too Friendly With Each Other, Expresses That He’s Not Into It
Today’s NBA has always been linked to being labeled as a ‘soft’ era due to the changes in rules, style of play, physical plays, and players’ relationships with each other. Although players are still able to compete intensively, friendly relationship within the league may be reducing the competitive nature among these players.
Now, in a recent interview, Washington Wizards star John Wall doubled down, confirming that today’s NBA is indeed too friendly compared to the earlier eras that he was used to seeing. The Wizards star also suggested that he’s not interested into this kind of setup, implying that he has no friends in the NBA.
“A lot of guys be too friendly now,” Wall said during a recent interview. “(Earlier) they weren’t friendly, they trying to rip each other head off. Now it’s like guys buddy-buddy.
“I ain’t got no friends.”
John Wall has not played a game in almost two years. He initially was sidelined due to an injury to his left heel, but Wall suffered another injury in his left Achilles amid his rehab in 2019. The 30-year old point guard is expected to return for the 2020-21 NBA season.
