Kendrick Perkins Projects The Phoenix Suns To Be A Top-5 Team In The West
The Phoenix Suns have started to make some moves in this year’s off-season in order to establish themselves as a formidable team in the West and get a chance to clinch the playoff spot they’ve been waiting on for so long.
The Suns recently acquired superstar point guard Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Paul incredibly rallied the Oklahoma City Thunder to the fifth seed in the West last year, while averaging 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game on 48.9% shooting from the field.
Paul has shown that he’s worth every penny and still capable of directing a team into the right direction. As Paul is expected to lead a young team alongside Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton, retired NBA defensive center Kendrick Perkins asserted that the Suns are going to be a top-five team in the NBA.
“The Phoenix Suns are a threat in the West. They’re going to be a top-five team,” said Perkins.
“And Chris Paul, one of the best point guards to ever touch the basketball, going parallel with Booker, who is one of the best scorers in today’s game is going to be serious. You got Devin Booker who can go for 50 on any given night. And you give him Chris Paul and take him off the ball when he’s going to be able to get easier baskets and not have to work as hard.”
“DeAndre Ayton will be an All-Star this year, mark my words! Chris Paul will have the effect on him like he did DeAndre Jordan when he was with the Clippers. When DeAndre Jordan played with Chris Paul, he played some of his best basketball of his career.”
"The Phoenix Suns are a threat in the West. They're going to be a top five team … and don't be surprised if they make it to the Western Conference Finals."
