LaVar Ball Explains Why The Lakers Owe Him A ‘Thank You’ After Winning The 2020 NBA Championship
LaVar Ball is back in the spotlight following his youngest son, LaMelo Ball’s recent selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. LaVar is notorious for being the loudest guy in the room and putting in some outrageous basketball takes that would constantly raise some eyebrows.
Last year, LaVar has gone on record for predicting that the Los Angeles Lakers will never win another championship after they traded his son Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans. As bold as it gets, ‘unfortunately’, the Lakers proved him wrong just a year later, beating the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals.
During his appearance on ‘Club Shay Shay’, LaVar was now asked about his wrong prediction concerning the Lakers and whether he was impressed that the Lakers won their 17th NBA title. The outspoken media sensation responded unimpressed, and suggested that he was one of the reasons the Lakers won the NBA championship.
Per USA Today:
“Heck no. They in the bubble. They’re in the bubble and all this stuff goes right. Like I told them, they need to send me a Thank You card on the fact that I gave incentive to win. I said they’d never ever, ever, ever win. You know they was talking about that the whole year. What did you say last year that somebody remembers? That’s how I be living in people’s heads…just so they can say ‘I told you that you was wrong.’ I still go to bed, take me a nap, eat my donuts and I don’t think about nothing. They’ve been thinking about this for a whole year,” as transcribed by Jacob Rude of USA Today.
