Kendrick Perkins Suggests Kevin Garnett And Ray Allen Are Still Not In Good Terms To Meet For A Reunion
Ray Allen joined the Boston Celtics in 2007 in hopes of creating something special, and he didn’t disappoint as they managed to clinch a title in 2008 against the Los Angeles Lakers. However, a crucial decision in Allen’s career sparked the end of an era for the Celtics and their ‘Big 3’ of Garnett, Pierce and Allen.
Come summer of 2012, Ray Allen, who was bothered by previous trade rumors and contract dispute in Boston, made a decision to join their Eastern Conference rival Miami Heat, who at that time were obviously the team to beat and the biggest roadblock to his former Celtics team.
Allen’s decision didn’t sit well with his Boston teammates, particularly Kevin Garnett. Now, eight years later, former Celtics big man Perkins suggests that he still doesn’t see Allen and Garnett meeting in one place intentionally as the two players haven’t mend fences since Allen’s free agency move.
Per heavy.com:
“But it’s gonna have to be guys accidentally meeting up because I’m telling you, trying to get guys to come to one place; trying to call KG to say, “Hey man, we’re going to dinner and oh yeah, Ray’s going to be there…” nah. It ain’t happening. So it’s going to have to happen by accident and I’ma have to set all the guys up, ‘Hey man. Look Ray. I’m going to Vegas. Come meet me out there…’ and I’ma have KG meet me out there too; I can’t just tell him. But doing it intentionally, I don’t see it happening.”
