Donovan Mitchell Reacts To Rudy Gobert’s Contract Extension After Their Relationship Appeared To Be Unsalvageable
Earlier this year, the Utah Jazz were considering to part ways with either Rudy Gobert or Donovan Mitchell going forward.
The relationship between the Jazz’s two focal points appeared to unsalvageable, after Gobert basically infected Mitchell with the coronavirus.
But the two reportedly were able to sort this issue out, remained teammates and even signed contract extensions with the Jazz.
So when Gobert signed the third-most valuable contract in NBA history, Mitchell revealed that their relationship is much better on and off of the court, and he even applauded him.
Per Eric Walden:
“I applaud Rudy — he showed up every day and you wouldn’t have been able to tell if negotiations were going great or going bad. … He was just the ultimate pro. It’s big. I’m excited for him and I told him that. … We’re fine. It’s over. It’s past us. It’s hard to believe it’s still the same year.”
Gobert himself also revealed that the issues between him and Mitchell are long gone, with both looking forward.
“After the bubble, I really felt like I could win a championship with Donovan. I think we’ve both grown a lot, and we’re going to keep growing. I’m really excited that we’re going to be able to continue this journey together.”
