Luka Doncic Should Not Get A Pass For Poor Performances, Says Kendrick Perkins

After an unreal sophomore season, Luka Doncic has entered this year’s NBA season being one of the favorites to win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the Year.

The Dallas Mavericks superstar however finds himself slacking off a bit, averaging 23.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game on 43.8% shooting from the field – not as bad as it appears, but not as fascinating as his last year’s numbers either.

The Mavericks are 1-3 to start the season and are without their second-best player in Kristaps Porzingis who’s recovering from a meniscus tear. This means the Mavericks will have to rely on Doncic more often until Porzingis returns to the hardwood, thus putting Doncic in a more difficult situation.

However, according to former NBA big man and now-analyst Kendrick Perkins, not even Porzingis’ injury should be an excuse for Doncic’s subpar performance this year, considering that the 21-year old superstar is getting lauded as an MVP candidate.

“We not about to be selective with the smoke! The Dallas Mavericks, even minus Porzingis, has enough to win ball games because they have an MVP candidate in Luka Doncic.

MVPs will their team to victories, no excuses Luka! Carry on…”
