Doc Rivers Believes Joel Embiid Is A Combination Of Patrick Ewing And Kevin Garnett
Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been off to a hot start throughout the Sixers’ early regular season schedule. He’s averaging a career-high in field goal, 3-point and free throw percentage, while putting up 24.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per game over his last eight games.
Embiid has impressed a ton of people early on, including their new head coach Doc Rivers. In a press conference, Rivers was all praise for the All-Star big man, comparing him to two dominant big men in Kevin Garnett and Patrick Ewing.
“Kevin Garnett was a four. I played with Patrick Ewing. I would combine those two together and make a Joel in some cases because he has a little bit of both of those.”

Embiid has made the game easier for teammates and has helped the team hoist the league’s best record with 7 wins and 2 losses. If Embiid and the Sixers keep this pace up as the season progresses, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Embiid ended up in the MVP conversation.
