Former NBA Champion Reveals Reason Why The Clippers Will Make The Finals Over The Lakers This Season
The Los Angeles Clippers have been the target of jokes ever since they suffered a pitiful exit during the second of the playoffs last season against the Denver Nuggets.
On the other hand, their hometown rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, have received plenty of praise, since concluding their 2020 NBA season with the Larry O’Brien trophy.
The two teams entered the season with different expectations set around them. Contrary to last season, most fans have now bought into the idea that the Lakers are clearly the better team and have the better chance of advancing to the NBA Finals.
Retired NBA Champion John Salley however, has an opposite opinion. In an appearance on ‘Vlad TV’, the former Pistons big man revealed his reason as to why he thinks the Clippers will make the NBA Finals over the Lakers this season.
“I see the Los Angeles Clippers versus the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Finals,” said John Salley. “This is my reason – The Lakers, when I saw McGee and Rondo and Dwight on other teams, it takes a team to win a championship. Proven fact – Michael Jordan couldn’t do without a team, Kobe couldn’t do without a team. I love that they got Gasol in their squad, but this offense works differently.”
“And the fact that Kawhi is asking Ty Lue to put the triangle offense in is because Kawhi realizes that Phil Jackson won 10 championships with a system. They won with a system in Golden State. That was an important thing. Everybody could play into this system if you got at a professional level. And if he implements it properly, these guys are gonna destroy anybody that comes into their way.”
