Charles Oakley Sounds Off On Stephen A. Smith Over Westbrook Criticism: “I Know ESPN Wants You To Be The Main Lead”

This season has certainly been tough for Russell Westbrook. While he has been racking up numbers per usual, the Washington Wizards have clearly been bannered by losses and are struggling to find a way to keep themselves in contention for a playoff appearance.

The way the Wizards are losing despite Westbrook’s monstrous production has become a bit bothersome to NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith. It became evident when Stephen A. Smith decided to throw negative comments on the 32-year old Wizards point guard after he achieved a historic triple-double against the Indiana Pacers more than a week ago.

A number of fans and players were not happy after seeing how Stephen A. Smith reacted to Westbrook’s accomplishment. One of which was New York Knicks legend Charles Oakley, who went his way to back Westbrook and denounce Stephen A. Smith’s criticism.

“Stephen A. Smith, I know ESPN wants you to be the main lead and the guy who knows everything about basketball. You gotta hit the brakes on these guys. Westbrook is getting a triple-double. It might not be the best for his team, that’s up to the coaching staff.”
