Dr. J Explains Why The Philadelphia 76ers Will Beat The Brooklyn Nets In The Playoffs
After a disappointing season last year, the Philadelphia 76ers have taken up a winning form and have appeared as one of the few teams to have a legitimate chance to win an NBA championship this year. Led by Joel Embiid, they currently hold the second seed in the East with 35 wins and 17 losses.
While the 76ers are having their best season since 2001, the Brooklyn Nets have stolen much of the spotlight following forming a super team, adding James Harden, LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin to the mix. It now looks as more fans are leaning towards the Nets than the 76ers come playoff time.
With that being said, Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving begs to differ. For Dr. J, the 76ers will still come out on top for a few reasons that he brought up during his appearance on Danny Green’s ‘Inside the Green Room’ podcast.
Per NBC Sports:
“First of all, [the Sixers] have an advantage coaching-wise based on experience with [head coach Doc Rivers], in terms of championship experience that [Green has], that Dwight [Howard] has. And the ambition of Ben [Simmons] and Joel [Embiid], these guys are hungry now, they’ve been a part of what they call ‘The Process’ for several years, and it’s time for The Process to bear some fruit.
“I’m betting my money on Philly … Ws mean confidence. It’s not cool to be overconfident, but it’s very cool to be confident. So you need to maintain that confidence and get out there and perform, that’s the way I see it.”
