Kansas City Mayor Calls For Kings To Return After 15 Straight Postseason Misses In Sacramento
For the 1985-86 NBA season, the Kings Franchise relocated from Kansas City to Sacramento, a city the Kings call its home till today.
Originally joining the NBA as the Rochester Royals in 1945, the franchised eventually relocated to Cincinnati in 1957, where they would stay until their move and name change to the Kansas City Kings in 1978.
If we take away the team’s sole successful era between 1998 and 2006, the Kings made the playoffs only twice in 28 years since moving to Sacramento, and not for a single time in the past 15 years.
This 15th consecutive miss had prompted Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas to tweet that it is time to bring them back to Kansas City.
Bad vibes out there. Time to come back to Kansas City. https://t.co/NdNREJXYnF

While it is highly unlikely for the Kings to relocate back to Kansas City, even if the were to move cities – something that has been rumored before – Kansas City can be hopeful that the possibility of professional basketball returning to the area still exists, due to the NBA flirting with another expansion.
