Scottie Pippen Settles Debate Between LeBron James And Kevin Durant
LeBron James remains to be the popular choice for the title of the best player in the NBA. However, the debate got more interesting this season after the Los Angeles Lakers superstar was sent home by the Phoenix Suns in the first-round of the playoffs. One fitting name that has been challenging LeBron for the throne is Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant.
Durant managed to lead the Nets to the second-round of the playoffs and was one-game (toe length) away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals. Although Durant and the Nets got knocked off by the Milwaukee Bucks, the two-time Finals MVP still had an all-time great series and even got a ringing endorsement from Giannis Antetokounmpo as the best player in the world today.
As Durant seems to get a lot of traction for the best player mantra, one popular legend had the chance to share his thoughts on the heating LeBron vs Durant debate among fans and basketball pundits. That legend is none other than former Chicago Bulls superstar Scottie Pippen.
Joining Yahoo Sports, Pippen settled the debate and argued that surpassing LeBron takes more than having an individual success, consequently giving importance to LeBron’s winning and team mentality.
“Surpassing LeBron James takes a little bit more than an individual effort,” Pippen explained. “LeBron James is a complete team player who understands team and winning. Has KD gotten to that level yet? He went home…”
“I think he still has some learning to do. In terms of what it takes to will a team to victory.”
