After 22 Years, Scottie Pippen Still Calls Out Charles Barkley’s Toughness 

After parting ways with the Chicago Bulls after their second three-peat, Scottie Pippen got his well-deserved contract by signing a five year, $67.2 million deal with the Rockets before the 1998-99 season. 

However, his play and attitude were nowhere near the value of his contract — to such a degree that his former teammates despised the behavior Pippen had showed within the team. Pippen’s former teammate, Charles Barkley being one of them. The two were never really able to build a relationship and would often clash, eventually leading to Pippen demanding a trade.

After their falling of and the end of the season, Pippen said:

“I wouldn’t give Charles Barkley an apology at gun point,”

This statement lead to a Barkley threat:

“As you know I always carry a gun with me, so if I get arrested for murder y’all know he didn’t apologize.”

Now, 22 years later the bad blood between the two former superstars still isn’t gone. In a GQ article, Pippen called out Barkley’s toughness:

“I wish he woulda went through with it. I never apologized to him, but I’ll tell you what: He only got arrested for throwing some little white guys out of a window. I ain’t never seen him fight a Black man unless there were referees around. He plays his role like he’s tough. I don’t know nobody he done whooped. Go back and check his record. Did I apologize to him? I told him to get me the hell out of there. That’s what I recall.”
