The Miami Heat & Dallas Mavericks Plan To Make ‘Hard Push’ To Sign Kawhi Leonard This Offseason
About three years ago, the Kawhi Leonard and San Antonio Spurs saga, which definitely was one of the weirdest NBA stories in recent history, ended, when they traded him and Danny Green for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Pöltl and a 2019 first round pick.
Back then, even though he was medically cleared, Leonard still chose to be out and went weeks without communicating with the team, because he did not trust the Spurs’ medical staff, eventually leading to Kawhi requesting a trade.
This situation could reportedly repeat itself now, some hundred miles further West. The story at least, sounds all too familiar.
According to Skip Bayless, Leonard has an issue with the Clippers and how they have handled his knee injury. Bayless’ sources say that Kawhi, who has a player option for the 2021-22 season, has played his last game for the Clippers already.
In come the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. The teams from South Beach and Texas are reportedly going to make a push for the Los Angeles Clippers superstar this offseason.
Per The Ringer:
The Mavericks and Heat plan to make a hard push to acquire Leonard, league sources say. The Knicks will also pursue any superstar that becomes available, and a long list of other suitors would at least make an attempt if he hits the market. Who wouldn’t want a 30-year-old two-time Finals MVP still performing at an All-NBA level?”
