Ben Simmons averaged 11.9 points and shot a lackluster 34.2% from the charity stripe throughout the 2021 NBA Playoffs. Looking at these numbers, it becomes easier to tell why Simmons has been on the receiving end of criticism despite his added rebounding, defense and facilitating.

While Simmons has a lot of time to redeem himself and run it back with the Philadelphia 76ers, his disappointing postseason performance now has him in a number of trade rumors, leaving many fans to believe that his run with the Sixers is likely over.

Despite this general expectation, Sixers sharpshooter Seth Curry said that he’s hoping for Simmons to come back next season while making it known that he loves and looks forward to playing with the three-time All-Star.

“I know everybody’s talking about different things our team can do. I love playing with Ben. He made me a better player, individually. He made our team better all season long. He’s still a great player. He obviously had a rough playoffs and we know that story, but I mean, the front office is gonna do whatever is best for the team. I’m sure of it and if that means Ben coming back, I hope for it and I’m looking forward to playing with him again. He’s a great player. He made me better as a player, and I know he’s gonna be in the gym working hard, too.”

When Curry was asked whether he believes the team can win a championship with Simmons on the roster, the 30-year old Sixers shooting guard opted to give a bold and straightforward response.

“Absolutely, absolutely… We just gotta play better. Every individual player including him (Simmons), including myself gotta play better.”
