New York Knicks Appear To Be Favorites To Land Damian Lillard If He Were To Get Traded
Damian Lillard was always considered to be a successor of Dirk, Tim and Kobe – someone to remain with his franchise for the entirety of his career. Dirk’s loyalty and the loyalty Dallas gave back to Dirk is something Damian Lillard always drew inspiration from anyways.
While Lillard hasn’t officially requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers yet, they’ve done their best to trigger one in the coming weeks, after striking out in free agency once again by failing to surround Lillard with championship contending talent.
If the All-Star indeed ends up requesting a trade, the New York Knicks appear to be the frontrunners when it comes to acquiring Lillard. At least if we believe Stephen A. Smith:
“I happen to know for a fact that even though Damian Lillard isn’t really keen on getting traded from Portland that – if he were to get traded from Portland – the New York Knicks would be his number one destination. I’m telling you what I know. I’m not guessing. I know this for a fact. Y’all figure out how.”
Stephen A Smith: “If [Damian Lillard] were to get traded from Portland, New York Knicks would be his number one destination.”
Also mentions Lillard’s ability to recruit players like Tatum and Embiid to a big market like New York
