Kevin Durant Reveals His ‘Welcome To The NBA Moment’ Came Courtesy Of Carmelo Anthony
Kevin Durant has always been sensational ever since he came into the league, but the two-time Finals MVP has raised the bar and even blew expectations following making a comeback from an Achilles injury that had him sidelined for a year.
After showing off in the NBA playoffs with averages of 34.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game on 51.4% shooting, Durant made a statement in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as he helped propel Team USA to their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal, finishing a game-high of 29 points in their final game.
But even All-Stars and Olympic Gold winners had their ‘welcome to the league’ moments, where a veteran showed them as a rookie that they’re not in college anymore.
In Durant’s case it came courtesy of Carmelo Anthony, who destroyed him so badly, that he still was confused when he was getting back on the team plane.
“Melo. He was just physical. He would duck you in the paint, hit you with the shoulder, then he’ll take you out… Jab, jab, pull over top of you. You wanna be physical, but you don’t… he just had you thinking too much on D… I got on the plane confused.”
