When Michael Jordan Taught Stephen Jackson A Lesson Of A Lifetime In Charlotte
In 2010, Michael Jordan attained majority ownership of the (then) Charlotte Bobcats.
In his first years, he frequently used to still play pickup basketball with the players during or after Bobcats practice.
While obviously not on an NBA level anymore, being out of the league for 8 years, he still was the best when it came to trash talking. Stephen Jackson recalled one of these infamous pickup games where Michael took part and started talking trash to everybody on the court.
Jackson jokes that this ended up being the game that cost him that shoe contract…
Transcript via Essentially Sports:
“He didn’t go by anybody he really wasn’t dominant. But he was talking all the trash in the world. So you know me, I’m trash-talking (from) the year in the Big 3, so obviously I did trash talk back to him.
Which was a mistake because if I didn’t know anything about all Michael Jordan’s accomplishments, I knew that day. Okay, he told me about all the championships, everything he’s done (for the) sport (like) points scored. And he reminded me that I was on his team.”
