The Greatest Game Nobody Ever Saw – Dream Team

30 years ago today, USA Basketball announced the “Dream Team” for the 1992 Olympics. Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, and John Stockton were named. Christian Laettner and Clyde Drexler were named to the team on May 12, 1992.

Then, when the team was preparing for the tournament, something special happened. Not a real game but a scrimmage three days before the start of the 1992 Olympics from the ‘greatest collection of basketball talent on the planet’.

The Dream Team played a Team Jordan vs Team Magic game. It turned out to be the greatest game nobody ever saw.

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Team USA defeated its opponents by an average of 44 points en route to the gold medal.
