Russell Westbrook When Asked If He Ever Considered A Trade To The Los Angeles Clippers: “Hell No”
Russell Westbrook has had a high-profile basketball career, starting with the Oklahoma City Thunder where he established his name, to eventually contending with the Houston Rockets, and spending short stint with the Washington Wizards during the last NBA season.
This year, Westbrook has found a new team and will now enter his 14th season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Growing up in LA and playing college basketball with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Westbrook did very much welcome the deal to join the storied Lakers franchise.
However, Westbrook appeared to only be open to returning back home if it were the Lakers and not a different LA team like the Los Angeles Clippers. Washington GM Tommy Sheppard revealed that Westbrook was apparently more open on staying with the Wizards than joining the Clippers franchise.
Per NBC Sports:
“Russell actually never asked to move on. He just said, ‘If I can get to the Lakers, that’d be something I would love to do. If not, I’ll be back here.’ I said, ‘What about the Clippers?’ He said, ‘Hell no.'”
