Isaiah Thomas Reveals He Was Very Close To Signing With One Team During The Offseason
Isaiah Thomas has struggled to find his footing in the NBA after suffering a hip injury back in 2017. Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and eventually made several stops to teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and the New Orleans Pelicans, respectively.
Thomas has been longing for another comeback since he was plucked out of an NBA roster. So, during the offseason, the 32-year old former NBA standout showed that he still has something left in the tank and did his best to attract attention from teams around the NBA.
Thomas, at the very least, received workouts with three NBA teams namely the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks. However, it appeared that these teams were thinking twice about signing the 32-year old point guard at this stage of his career.
Appearing in a YouTube video, Thomas revealed that he was actually very close to signing with one of these teams, but nothing came to fruition.
“This offseason I worked out for three teams and got very positive feedback from every organization,” Thomas said in the video. “There was one team that I was basically very close to signing (with), then it didn’t happen.”
“The things this past year I’ve been able to catch up on are like going to my kids’ basketball and football games, being around their journey and being an everyday dad,” Thomas said. “Obviously, I’d rather be playing right now, but it makes me feel that much better knowing I’m not wasting any time in life. I’m able to experience situations with my family that I for the most part missed for 10 straight years being on a roster in the NBA.”
