New York Knicks Villain Trae Young Received Actual Vote For New York City Mayor Election

In last season’s playoffs, Trae Young became the enemy of New York City, when he ended the Knicks’ hopes of making some noise in the playoffs with his incredible performances, while provoking the crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Young not only got insulted by the fans, he also was spat on and responded by destroying the Knicks.

A couple of months later, Young was back at the Garden. During WWE Smackdown, Trae Young made his WWE debut and unlike the many NBA players appearing on one of the brand’s shows before, he made his debut as a heel and obviously was met with numerous boos.

His performances as enemy of the Knicks were enough to convince one New Yorker (likely a Nets fan, or a Boston native who moved to the area) to vote for Young as the new mayor. In November’s election, the Hawks point guard actually received one write-in vote to be NYC’s next mayor, according to the New York City Board of Elections report.
