Brooklyn Nets Reportedly Open To Trading Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status continues to be one of the biggest storylines this season. The controversial Brooklyn Nets star chooses not to get vaccinated and now has to live with the consequences of that choice.

Irving is ineligible to play home games due to New York City’s vaccine mandate. On top of that, per NBA’s mandate, Irving will not be paid for any games that he misses as a result of refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Nets then even explained that they’ll sit Irving in all the other games as well. Additionally Kyrie won’t practice with the team until he’s eligible to play in every game.

Now, reports have surfaced that the Nets haven’t ruled out trading Kyrie Irving. Per Yahoo:

“Brooklyn remained open to talking trades involving Irving, per SNY sources. ESPN reported in late October that the Nets were taking calls on potential Irving trades, but not making them. In the weeks following that report, several teams said Brooklyn has continued to take that approach with the All-Star guard.

If the Nets trade Irving, they don’t have to worry about the ramifications of his return to the team.”

Earlier this season, when discussing a possible Kyrie trade, it was dubbed highly unlikely due to a general belief that Irving could seriously consider retirement if the Nets decide to trade him.
