Principal Of LeBron James’ I Promise School Resigns After Allegedly Slapping 11-Year-Old Student
LeBron James not only is one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he’s also a generous humanitarian. James has always been very active in the fight against social injustices, especially in his home town of Akron, Ohio.
In 2018, James opened an elementary school, the I PROMISE school, providing high quality education to hundreds of underprivileged inner-city children.
According to the Fordham Institute in Ohio, 90% of the school’s students met or exceeded their expected growth in math and reading.
The school’s amazing reputation now had setback, as it was revealed that the school’s first ever principal, Brandi Davis, smacked a student in the face after they used profanity.
“According to the child’s mother, they actually had a busted lip from the incident. After the incident, the young student’s mother said she allegedly asked Davis why she would put her hands on her child, to which the former public school principal responded that she had “just reacted and slapped him.”
This led to Davis giving in her resignation letter, and the school sending out a statement:
“We are family, and that means we support every one of our I PROMISE educators, students, and family members through anything they may be going through,” the statement reads. “In this and in every case, we will always do everything we can to make sure all are loved and supported during these times as we learn and grow as a family.”
