Former Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Iman Shumpert Reveals Why LeBron James Started Flopping

LeBron James has often gotten a knack for flopping over the course of his career. Still, the four-time NBA champion doesn’t seem much bothered by it and has no problem breaking out his flopping antics from time to time.

LeBron averages 27 points per game for his career and has a couple of All-Defensive selections under his resume. While he doesn’t need to flop in order to dominate, there’s a reason why LeBron has to add this technique as part of his game – former Cleveland Cavaliers player Iman Shumpert confirmed as much.

In a recent interview on the Bootleg Kev podcast, the defensive swingman shared a new insight on LeBron’s flopping antics. According to Shumpert, LeBron believed that the officials couldn’t see him getting fouled so he started flopping.

“The worst thing we had against LeBron was like, ‘Bro, why you flopping?’” Shumpert said. “And literally, he started flopping cause he like, ‘Bro, I gotta get these free throws if these people getting free throws.’ He like, ‘Bro, I’m really getting hit.’ So he like, ‘Ah, I’ll sell it for you cause they can’t see it cause I’m so strong. Y’all can’t see me getting fouled.’”
