Los Angeles Lakers Bid Farewell To Staples Center
Last month, it was revealed that one of the world’s most famous sport venues will be chaining its name.
Los Angeles’ legendary Staples Center is getting renamed to Crypto.com Arena on December 25, in what is believed to be the largest U.S. venue naming rights deal to date.
Many Lakers fans have always associated the franchise with their iconic home, since they’ve been playing at Staples ever since. So it’s obvious that many fans couldn’t believe it and were pretty mad about it.
I mean nobody will most likely ever call Staples Center, Crypto.com Arena after all, much like the people of Chicago still have the Sears Tower and John Hancock Center.
So, yesterday, the Lakers said goodbye to Staples Center, as they played their last game in the arena under its current name. Unfortunately for the fans, the Lakers got destroyed by the San Antonio Spurs, in a game they’d rather forget.
Nontheless, the Lakers officially bid farewell to Staples Center.
