Anfernee Simons’ Emotional Interview After 43-Point Game Following His Grandfather’s Death
While Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young scored a career high 56 points, while adding 14 assists, his night was spoilt by another young gun in the league, Anfernee Simons.
The Blazers guard saved the day with 43 points of his own, obviously a new career high for Simons, and some clutch shots and made free throws.
After the game, during his post-game interview, Simons revealed that this game was even more special than we all thought. Simons revealed that his grandfather had died of cancer the night before.
“I really can’t take credit for how well I played tonight. I was just going out there and playing my game. I got a couple of shots to go in. Like I said I really can’t take it today. Sadly, my grandpa died yesterday of cancer. It’s all him, honestly. I give credit to him. I dedicated this whole game to him. Like I said I can’t take credit tonight, it was all him.”
