Rudy Gobert Calls Out Team, Explains Why They’re Behind The Warriors And The Suns

After securing the NBA’s best record and the first seed in the Western Conference during last season’s campaign, this year’s Utah Jazz looked like they took a backseat to the likes of the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors, who have been the NBA’s two top teams.

The Jazz they have gone 28-14 this season and are still in the mix as one of the top-five teams in the West. It’s not as bad as one may think, but it’s certainly clear that a bit of regression doesn’t sit well with Jazz players like Rudy Gobert, as one example.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner recently compared his team to the Suns and the Warriors, and he certainly did not hold back calling out his team and sharing an honest assessment why the Jazz haven’t been able to keep up with these two top teams.

“When I watch some of these other teams like the Suns or the Warriors, those guys are a step ahead in terms of winning habits. They take every game personally. Devin Booker is playing his ass off defensively… Guys like that, they buy in, and you can tell they take pride in playing defense and stopping their man, doing whatever they can defensively to stop the other team and be part of a winning culture. I think we’re not there yet, but I think we’re gonna get there.”
