Stephen A. Smith Says It Would Be A ‘Disaster’ If The Nets Won The Championship With Kyrie Irving

After being ruled as ineligible, Kyrie Irving finally made his return for the Brooklyn Nets two weeks ago. The team decided that the 29-year old point guard will only be back for road games as he still hasn’t complied with New York’s vaccine mandates.

The team’s decision to bring back Irving did not develop without causing a stir. Many fans and basketball pundits have lobbied criticism as they believe that bringing back an unvaccinated player doesn’t help in dealing with the league’s COVID-19 problem.

Now during his return to First Take, after a long battle with Covid-19, Stephen A. Smith said that it would be a disaster if the Brooklyn Nets won a championship this season while catering to Irving.

“I think it would be a disaster if the Brooklyn Nets won the championship for the game of basketball. I really do. The reason I feel that way is because of the liberties Kyrie Irving has taken in the past before the vaccination was an issue. Remember, this is the dude that needed time off when the riots at the U.S. Capitol took place because mentally he just wasn’t there and he could just walk away from the game of basketball. Now it’s the vaccine as an excuse not to be at the Barclays Center for people in Brookly to see this showstopper play.”
