Robert Parish Says Jaylen Brown And Jayson Tatum Don’t Make Their Teammates Better
Many expected the Boston Celtics to build momentum after Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the team to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance during the 2020 NBA bubble. However, things have not gotten any better since then.
This season, the Celtics are unable to break their current dilemma as they currently stand as the 10th seed in the East with a 23-24 record. Much of Boston’s situation hinges on the pairing of Tatum and Brown, and this is why the duo has been faced with a lot of criticism and questions as of late.
Celtics legend Robert Parish was the latest player to weigh in on the duo of Brown and Tatum. According to former Celtics big man, Boston’s struggles are due to the fact that the two All-Stars don’t have the ability to make their teammates better.
“Brown and Tatum don’t have the ability to make their teammates better,” said Parish. “One of the reasons we were so successful going back to the 80s was because of Larry [Bird’s] ability to make people around him better.”
“When Brown and Tatum are doing their thing, everyone’s just standing around. They only have, really, two scorers, so if one of them is struggling, the Celtics don’t have a chance to win. Brown and Tatum have to be spectacular, and that’s impossible to do every night.”
