Dirk Nowitzki Says He Shouldn’t Have Played His Final Two Years: “Unfortunately, I Can’t Move Much Anymore”

When Dirk Nowitzki joined the NBA, numerous players and coaches alike didn’t believe Nowitzki would even last in the league, let alone break all kinds of records for a big man. But he has done that, proved the doubters wrong throughout his glamorous career.

Nowitzki not only changed the game for international players, but changed the game forever overall. Unfortunately, his impact and influence throughout the NBA is still not quite comprehended by the casual fan after all these years.

But Dirk also had to pay tribute for his 21-year long Hall of Fame career. During an appearance on German football stars Toni and Felix Kroos’ ‘Einfach mal Luppen’ podcast, Dirk now revealed that he possibly should have called it a career a couple of years earlier, for a pretty sad reason.

Nowitzki’s foot is so bad, that he can’t play with the kids, there even are days where he can’t move at all.

“Should the last two years still have been played? Maybe my foot would be a little better now, I could kick with the kids, that just isn’t possible anymore at all.

My foot is really bad, there are days when I don’t move well at all. I’m thinking, have the last two years really been worth it. We haven’t achieved anything as a team, were these last two years really worth it? That’s going through my head a bit. But it’s also damn difficult to find the right time to end your career.”
