Former Referee Ken Mauer Says NBA Forced Him Out For Refusing Vaccine Due To Religious Beliefs

Ken Mauer certainly is one of the most famous and longest-tenured NBA referees in history. Mauer has officiated 1,935 regular-season games in over 33 seasons as an NBA referee. He has also worked 218 playoff games, including 19 Finals games.

But this season, we quietly haven’t seen Mauer in any NBA games, yet. Mauer now spoke about it for the first time and said that the NBA banned him because of his refusal to take the vaccine. The former referee is citing ‘religious reasons’ for not wanting to be vaccinated.

“I never thought that my faith in our Lord Jesus Christ would prevent me or stop me or get in the way of me refereeing NBA basketball games. That’s what’s happened. Not to just me, but other people.”
