Gregg Popovich Passes Lenny Wilkens For No. 2 On All-Time Coaching Wins List And Will Be No.1 Very Soon

Gregg Popovich has been the San Antonio Spurs for 25 straight years now, and it is safe to say that he’s one of the most respected coaches in the league.

He has led the Spurs to a winning record in most of his seasons as a head coach (.659 overall win percentage), and led the Spurs to all five of their NBA titles.

With the Spurs’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Popovich passed Lenny Wilkens to claim the sole possession of the No. 2 spot in all-time NBA coaching wins with 1,333 career wins.

This also puts him only two games behind all-time leader Don Nelson, who has amassed 1,335 wins as a head coach. So if the Spurs win three more games this season, which is very, very likely, Popovich will be alone at the top.
