Steve Kerr Believes Nikola Jokic Should Win His Second MVP Award This Season
Nikola Jokic has taken the last MVP award for his dominant efforts with the Denver Nuggets, and this year, the reigning MVP is once again making his case for another MVP trophy.
The Serbian center has been on a roll, putting up monstrous numbers of 25.9 points, 13.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game on 57.3% shooting from the field. He’s currently leading the Nuggets to the sixth seed in the Western Conference while missing two of their scoring weapons in Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.
The NBA is in for a tightly contested MVP race. Whether if it’s Jokic’s award to lose is definitely up for debate. But for Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, the 27-year old Nuggets center is the deserving winner of this year’s MVP.
“We played against the reigning MVP, who probably should win it again,” Kerr told reporters after the game.
“I don’t have a vote, but Jokic is just an unbelievable player and was spectacular tonight. He makes all of his teammates better. He makes defense so difficult because no matter what you do, he’s got a counter for it. He’s playing the game at such an easy pace and things look so smooth for him out there. With our defense already coming into this game struggling, he’s a tough guy to face when you’re not well-connected at that end of the floor.”
