Patrick Beverley Says Russell Westbrook’s Criticism Damaged His Reputation: “People Looked At Me Differently”

It’s no secret that Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook don’t like each other at all. The two players always seem to have a choice of words against each other and would always stir up tensions every chance they get.

Beverley has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind. Earlier this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves defensive guard poked fun at Westbrook and tweeted out that he’s been a magician this year, which was a reference to Westbrook’s “running around, doing nothing” comments that became tied with Beverley for quite some time.

Speaking up on his long-time beef with Westbrook, Beverley now said that Westbrook damaged his reputation in the league because of Westbrook’s criticism which was made to discredit his style of defense.

“I call that perfect timing, divine timing,” Beverley said. “You know people looked at me differently? People around the NBA, coaches, players, like after that people were just taking the ball just going at me.

“I’m like, ‘What the f—?’ All because of what one person said, and that’s how the media is. If one person says one thing, that’s how they take it. And they take it just for that. People really looked at it like, ‘Yeah, maybe this motherf—er don’t play defense. The only thing he does is run around.’

“So, obviously, I had one bad game. ‘Oh Russ was right. I knew this motherf—–; the only thing he did is run around and stuff like that.’ You know, it’s no fun when the rabbit gots the gun now.”
