Kevin Durant Names His Top 3 MVP Candidates, Ranks Joel Embiid As First
Kevin Durant was generating MVP buzz early in the season for his stellar efforts for the Brooklyn Nets, but a knee injury, that got him sidelined for a number of games, caused the Nets superstar to stumble down in the MVP rankings.
Though he has fallen behind, Durant seemed to have no issues, and instead, conceded the MVP race to a couple of guys who have been consistent since the start of the season. Appearing on an interview, Durant named Joel Embiid, DeMar Derozan and Ja Morant as his top three MVP candidates.
Durant went on to say that Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic has a case too. But Durant insisted that he’s still going with Embiid, who’s having a monster year for the second-seeded Philadelphia 76ers.
“If I had to take a guess, I will go, it’s between Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan, Ja Morant for me, those are my top three,” Durant said. “And I’ll probably go Joel. It’s, I mean [Nikola] Jokic, you could throw Jokic in there, but I’ll probably go Joel. I mean there’s so many players playing at a high level man, so like I said the other day, league’s in a great place.”
