Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Harshly Criticizes Will Smith: “Slap Perpetuates Black Stereotypes”

Will Smith was the talk of town during this past Sunday’s Academy Awards.

Not only did he win an Oscar for best male actor, he also slapped Chris Rock live on stage for a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabnar, who has always been very outspoken, now flamed Smith for his reaction, saying that his actions are a blow to men, women, the entertainment industry and the Black community.

Per Kareem’s Substack:

“With a single petulant blow, he advocated violence, diminished women, insulted the entertainment industry, and perpetuated stereotypes about the Black community…

…Some have romanticized Smith’s actions as that of a loving husband defending his wife…Actually, it was the opposite. Smith’s slap was also a slap to women.”
