Donovan Mitchell Not Expected To Commit To The Utah Jazz For Long-Term: “That’s Staring Them In The Face This Summer”

The way things have gone for the Utah Jazz, it’s not surprising to see their stars voice out their frustrations with the team, particularly Donovan Mitchell, who made headlines when he came out heated after the Jazz blew a 25-point lead against the Los Angeles Clippers last week.

Mitchell remains an absolute force for the Jazz and has been averaging 26.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game on 45.4% shooting from the field so far this year. However, that hasn’t been enough to elevate the team into a completely different level this season.

The Jazz, who are sitting fifth in the Western Conference with a 46-32 record, have had a rough season by their standard, and that only adds to Mitchell’s frustrations. As they continue to struggle, many are paying attention to Mitchell’s future with the team.

According to NBA insider Tim McMahon, Mitchell is unlikely to spend his entire career with the Jazz while hinting that the 25-year old shooting guard could be on the move in the upcoming offseason.

“The idea that Donovan Mitchell is going to spend his entire his career in Utah is absolutely ridiculous,” McMahon said. “That’s one of the things that’s staring them in the face this summer. That’s also one of the things that has been looming over this franchise all season long.”
