Kyrie Irving Thinks He Belongs On NBA 75’s Anniversary Team: “I Think I Was On The List But I Guess I’m Not”
Earlier this year, the NBA decided to put together a list of the top 75 players in NBA history to kick off their 75th anniversary season. There have been a lot of talented players in the NBA, so it was not a surprise that the 75th anniversary team was announced with a couple of snubs.
One player who missed the cut is Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving. Irving has showcased himself as one of the most skilled players in the NBA, especially on the offensive end. His resume also speaks for itself as an NBA champion, a three-time All-NBA member and a seven-time All-Star.
In a recent conversation with reporters, the 30-year old Brooklyn Nets star said that he felt like he deserved to be named as one of the top 75 NBA players ever while adding that he’s hoping to make the next anniversary team with a few more championships under his belt.
Per New York Daily News:
“I’m not tryna sit up here and spew out the reasons why I felt I deserved to be on the top-75,” Irving said after the Nets’ come-from-behind victory over the Knicks on Wednesday. “I think I’ll wait for that when my career is over and maybe on the 100th Anniversary, I’ll make that team. You don’t know unless they expand the group.”
“I think I’ll leave it to the conspiracy theorists,” he said. “I think I was on the list, but I guess I’m not, so hey, like I said, maybe I’ll just wait 10 years, 20 years from now, hopefully with a few championships under my belt and talking with you guys on the court after raising a few banners here in (Brooklyn).”
