Shaquille O’Neal Vouches For Mark Jackson As Next Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach
The Los Angeles Lakers are geared to conduct a coaching search this offseason following the firing of head coach Frank Vogel. The Lakers’ decision to let go of him came after the team finished the season with a record of 33-49, consequently missing the playoffs.
A couple of interesting possible candidates have emerged for the Lakers head coaching position, and one of them is former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson. Jackson spent three seasons as Warriors head coach and tallied a 121-109 record.
Although Jackson hasn’t coached an NBA team since he was fired after the 2014 NBA season, Lakers Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal still believes that the former Dubs head coach would be a perfect choice for the Lakers.
Per Reuters:
“Mark Jackson helped build Golden State before Steve Kerr took it to the next level,” he said. “He made it a very sexy brand to watch, so I’m sure he can do that with LeBron [James] and Russ (Russell Westbrook).”
