Taylor Jenkins Dismisses Narrative That The Memphis Grizzlies Are A Dirty Team After Dillon Brooks’ Foul: “We’re Competitive”

Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins defended Dillon Brooks and the team over narratives that the Grizzlies are a dirty team, after Brooks committed a Flagrant 2 foul on Golden State Warriors defensive guard Gary Payton II.

Payton II was going for a transition layup in the first quarter of Game 2 when Brooks chased him down and ended up swiping Payton’s head, causing a hard fall. Payton II fractured his elbow and is now reportedly out for the foreseeable future.

Many fans and basketball pundits have called out the Grizzlies for being dirty. Coach Jenkins however begs to differ. Appearing in an interview, Jenkins claimed that the Grizzlies are the furthest thing from dirty.

Per Commercial Appeal:

“It’s a tough play,” Jenkins said. “We obviously wish Gary Payton II a speedy and healthy recovery. It’s very unfortunate what happened there.”

“I look at my locker room and I look at our culture and what we exude, we’re the furthest thing from dirty,” Jenkins said. “We’re competitive, so I want that to be squashed pretty quick here.”
