Ben Simmons Emerges As A Potential Trade Target For The Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks slumped their way through the 2021-22 NBA season and eventually suffered a disappointing result in this year’s NBA playoffs, losing to the Miami Heat in five games during their first-round playoff series.
Trae Young underwhelmed and turned ice cold against Miami, finishing the series with 15.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game on 31.9% shooting from the field. De’Andre Hunter was the man for the Hawks, leading the team in scoring with 21.2 points per game on 46.2% shooting.
Following their lackluster season, the Hawks are expected to reshape their roster in the upcoming summer and put together a competitive cast enough for them to compete in the Eastern Conference. One player that they could reportedly eye for is Brooklyn Nets point guard Ben Simmons.
The Hawks explored the possibility of trading for Simmons back when he was still a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. However, the rumors cooled off after reports revealed that the Sixers’ asking price remained too high.
Per The Athletic:
I’d also keep an eye on Simmons, too. Several people inside the Hawks’ organization wanted Simmons at the trade deadline. The price might not be as high to land him now, especially if Brooklyn decides to move on before he plays one game for the Nets.
