Gary Payton Frustrated With How The Warriors Used His Son In Game 1 Of The NBA Finals

Gary Payton II, who has already been out for multiple weeks, also missed Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals due to a fractured left elbow that he suffered during Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The injury happened after Memphis Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks swiped him in the head during a layup attempt in transition, which took place with less than three minutes into the first quarter of Game 2

Payton’s elbow has healed, and it looks like he will be able to play in today’s Game 2, but it seems as if he would have been ready to suit up in Game 1. At least if we believe his father, NBA legend Gary Payton.

Payton vented his frustrations on The Rich Eisen Show:

“Suit him up and you don’t play him, I don’t know… (The Warriors) are not at full strength.”
